The Facebook App on your Android device, iPhone or iPad is about to get a lot more fascinating. The Facebook App Center is launched with 600 apps including Angry Birds Friends, Avengers Alliance, Instagram and many more. The mobile version of this new App Center has been launched in the US and will be available globally in the coming weeks. However desktop users can access the App Center’s website regardless of their location. “You’ll only see high quality apps in the App Center, based on user ratings and engagement” said Facebook Reps.

Well this means users soon will be able to customize their mobile Facebook App. What might come next to your mind? May be, Is Facebook charging for these apps? Here’s a clue: the company explicitly doesn’t want to call it as a “store,” according to ABCNews. The App Center also houses a collection of mobile apps for iOS and Android that feature Facebook integration. The App Center comprises of ratings for the apps, descriptions and screenshots to make choice clearer.

The App Center will be accessible from the left-hand navigational menu on Facebook landing pages and it will constitute of personalized app recommendations based on an individual user’s interests and previous activities. The apps can also be searched by category such as “games” or “lifestyle”. Using the “Send to Mobile” feature users can send mobile apps to their devices. After that they will be taken to Google Play or iTunes App Store to download the app. The Send to Mobile feature is possible with iOS devices, but doesn’t quite work yet with Android.

For developers, the app center is designed to give them options to access Facebook’s platform whether the users are coming from Apple iOS devices, Android devices or mobile web browsers, said Doug Purdy, director of developer products at Facebook at a press event in San Francisco. “This is not a question of ‘or’ it’s a matter of ‘and,’” Purdy said, referring to the choice between web, iOS and Android.
